Course of application and defense of doctoral dissertation

1. Application of the topic of doctoral dissertation

All forms for applying the topic of the doctoral dissertation, completed, signed, originally submitted to the Secretariat of Molecular Biosciences studies and forwarded in electronic form to the secretary of the postgraduate study (it must be in PDF format); email: katarina.kereta[at]fdmz.hrr .

The Committee for Obtaining a Doctorate of Science at the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Study of Molecular Biosciences makes a Decision on the appointment of the Committee for the Assessment of the Topic, (The Committee should usually count three members).

After the decision on the appointment of the Committee for the evaluation of the topic of the doctoral dissertation, the term of public defense of the topic of the doctoral dissertation is scheduled.

The President of the Committee for the Assessment of the Topic informs the Secretary of studies about the date of public defense of the topic by email katarina.kereta[at]fdmz.hr. The date, time and place must be advertised on the Molecular Biosciences website.

2. Accept a topic rating

• Take the dr.sc. -02 (completed by the Committee for the Evaluation of the Topic of doctoral dissertation) [HR – docx] [EN – doc]

The President of the Commission for the Evaluation of the Topic after the Public Defense of the Topic, submits the completed, signed, original form (dr.sc.-02) to the Secretariat of Molecular Biosciences Studies and forwards in electronic form to the Secretaries of postgraduate studies (must be in PDF format);

The Council for Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies adopts the Decision on accepting the assessment of the topic of the doctoral dissertation at the proposal of the Committee for obtaining a Doctorate of Science at the interdisciplinary doctoral study of Molecular Biosciences.

3. Surrender of doctoral dissertation

The Council for Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies adopts the Decision on the appointment of the Commission for the evaluation of the doctoral dissertation at the proposal of the Commission for obtaining a doctorate of science at the interdisciplinary doctoral study of Molecular Biosciences (the Commission should, as a rule, have three members).

The President of the Committee for the Evaluation of the Doctoral Dissertation submits the completed, signed, original form (dr.sc. -03) to the Secretariat of molecular biosciences studies and forwards in electronic form to the Secretary of postgraduate studies (signed form in PDF and form in DOC format).

4. Acceptance of the doctoral dissertation grade

The Council for Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies adopts the Decision on accepting the evaluation of the doctoral dissertation and appointing the Committee for the Defense of the Doctoral Dissertation at the proposal of the Commission for obtaining a Doctorate of Science at the interdisciplinary doctoral study of Molecular Biosciences. The same Decision establishes the date and place of public defense of the doctoral dissertation.

The doctoral thesis must be published on the postgraduate study website at least 30 days before public defence.

A postgraduate student is obliged to submit or present a hard-rooted copy of the doctoral dissertation to each member of the committee no later than the start of the defence of the doctoral dissertation. Also, the student is obliged to deliver three hard-rooted copies and two CDs with a doctoral dissertation in pdf format identical to the rooted specimens to the study secretariat before defending the doctorate or present them to a representative of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek until the start of the defense of the doctoral dissertation.

The doctoral dissertation is defended in the premises of the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek or its constituents. If the doctoral dissertation is defended in the premises of the Rudjer Boskovic Institute in Zagreb or the University of Dubrovnik, a representative of the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer Osijek is appointed to the public defence of the doctoral dissertation.
