COMPETITION
for the enrollment of 20 students in the interdisciplinary doctoral study program in Molecular Biosciences in the academic year 2025/2026
AND
- The doctoral interdisciplinary study of Molecular Biosciences is conducted by Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek in cooperation with the University of Dubrovnik and the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb.
- The interdisciplinary doctoral study program in Molecular Biosciences lasts three years, or six semesters, and upon completion, 180 ECTS credits and the academic degree of Doctor of Science in Interdisciplinary Scientific Field with an indication of the scientific field (biology, chemistry, basic medical sciences, food technology, agriculture) are acquired.
- A total of 20 students are enrolled in the interdisciplinary doctoral study program in Molecular Biosciences, depending on the potential number of mentors.

Study admission requirements
- The study can be enrolled by candidates who have completed a university graduate degree, university integrated undergraduate and graduate degree, or university specialist degree as follows:
- from the area of biotechnical, biomedical and natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, food technology, chemical engineering, biotechnology, human and veterinary medicine, dental medicine, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, agriculture and forestry);
- other university graduate, integrated university undergraduate and graduate studies with the completion of prerequisite subjects determined by the Council for Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies.
- The study can be enrolled by candidates who have completed a master's degree in an appropriate postgraduate study program. The number of recognized ECTS credits for enrollment in a particular semester is approved by the Council for Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies, depending on the submitted qualifications (academic degree of Master of Science, number of published papers, participation in conferences, etc.).
- The study programme may be enrolled by persons whose average grade in the university graduate, university integrated undergraduate and graduate studies was at least 3.5. Exceptional enrolment rights are granted to persons whose grade is below 3.5 provided that they have the recommendation of two distinguished scientists or university professors of the higher education institution from which they graduated.
- Knowledge of a world language.

Doctoral study tuition fee:
- The total tuition fee in accordance with the doctoral study program amounts to a total of EUR 7,000.00 (I. year of study EUR 2,500.00, II. year of study EUR 2,500.00, III. year of study EUR 2,000.00).
- Tuition is paid before enrollment in the year to the giro account number HR4325000091102012988; call to the CANDIDATE's OIB number;
- After making the payment, applicants must attach a confirmation of payment, namely a copy of the transfer order (if the payment was made by the company/institution) or a copy of the payment slip (if the payment was made by the candidate themselves);

Applications for the competition are submitted using the application form available on the study website: https://mobi.unios.hr/
Along with the application, applicants are required to submit the following documentation:
- personal data of the candidate with indication of residential address;
- biography;
- motivation letter and description of scientific research interest;
- a copy of the birth certificate or proof of citizenship;
- a certified copy of the diploma of completed studies;
- transcript of grades from the completed integrated university undergraduate and graduate studies/university undergraduate and university graduate studies with a stated average grade point average of more than 3.5;
- recommendations from two reputable scientists or university professors from the institution of higher education from which they graduated (if the average is less than 3.5);
- a certificate of knowledge of one world language or a written statement to that effect;
- confirmation from the institution or a written statement from the candidate regarding the obligation to pay tuition fees.
Applicants who have completed their studies abroad are required to initiate the academic recognition procedure of a foreign higher education qualification, for the purpose of continuing their education in the Republic of Croatia, and to attach to their application a decision on academic recognition or evidence of the initiated academic recognition procedure of a foreign higher education qualification. The procedure is initiated at the Academic Recognition Office of the University of Osijek, and more detailed information can be found on the University's website http://www.unios.hr/kvaliteta/djelatnosti/akademsko-priznavanje .

Applications for enrollment are submitted by mail to the following address: Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Trg Svetog Trojstva 3, 31000 Osijek; with the note "application for enrollment in the doctoral interdisciplinary study of Molecular Biosciences".
The competition is open until September 15, 2025.

Applications for the competition and the candidates' fulfillment of the conditions for admission to the Doctoral study are considered by the Committee for the Selection of Candidates for Admission to the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Study in Molecular Biosciences. Applications that are not completed in accordance with the prescribed application form and instructions will not be considered, as will incomplete and untimely applications.
The committee for selecting candidates conducts evaluation procedures through two levels. The first level of evaluation is the evaluation of candidates according to the tender documentation. The second level of evaluation consists of an interview with the candidates.
The list of candidates selected for admission to the doctoral study is determined by the Council for Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies based on the scoring conducted. The method of scoring candidates is determined by the Council for Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies and is published on the study website https://mobi.unios.hr/ .
The candidate has the right to submit an objection to the selection procedure through the Office for Students within 24 hours after the announcement of the results of the candidate selection procedure.
All applicants will be notified of the results of the competition by publication on the website no later than 30 days after the conclusion of the competition procedure.
All terms used in this Competition that have gender significance include both masculine and feminine genders equally.
