for the admission of 50 participants to the postgraduate interdisciplinary university study molecular biosciences in the academic year 2021/2022

AND

Postgraduate interdisciplinary university study molecular biosciences is performed in collaboration with the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek with the University of Dubrovnik and the Rudjer Boskovic Institute in Zagreb.

The postgraduate interdisciplinary university study programme of Molecular Biosciences lasts for three years and six semesters respectively and its completion earns 180 ECTS credits and an academic degree of Doctor of Science.

A total of 50 students are enrolled in the postgraduate interdisciplinary university study programme of Molecular Biosciences according to the potential number of mentors.

General postgraduate study data
Interdisciplinary is a fundamental feature of the University Postgraduate Interdisciplinary Doctoral Study of Molecular biosciences, which functionally integrates:

  • field of biotechnical sciences - field of food technology, field of agriculture
  • field of biomedicine and healthcare - field of basic medical science,
  • field of natural sciences - field of biology, field of chemistry

The study programme of the postgraduate interdisciplinary university study molecular biosciences contains

  • compulsory cases
  • methodological electives
  • elective subjects in different modules:
    • materials science and new technologies
    • bioinformatics
    • biology
    • biology of the sea
    • plant biology
    • biomedicine

Postgraduate study lasts three years and six semesters respectively: compulsory and methodological elective courses are heard in the first semester, elective subjects in modules are listened to in the second semester, and in other semesters the student is dedicated to making a doctoral dissertation.

Conditions of enrolment to study

  1. Students with completed undergraduate or graduate university studies can enroll as follows:
    •  in the fields of biotechnical, biomedical and natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, food technology, chemical engineering, biotechnology, human and veterinary medicine, dentistry, pharmacy of agriculture and forestry);
    • other undergraduate or graduate university studies with the taking of distinguishing courses established by the Council of Postgraduate Interdisciplinary University Studies.
  2. The study can be enrolled by applicants who have received a master's degree in the corresponding postgraduate study programme. The number of ects credits recognized for admission in a given semester is approved by the Council of Postgraduate Studies depending on the attached qualifications (academic degree of master of science, number of published papers, participation in meetings, etc.).
  3.  The study can be enrolled by persons whose average grade in undergraduate or graduate university studies was at least 3.5. The exceptional right of admission is granted to persons whose grade is below 3.5 provided that they have the recommendation of two distinguished scientists or a university professor of the higher education institution where they graduated.
  4. Knowledge of a world language.

The application for the competition (on the prescribed form of the holder of the study that can be downloaded at the http://www.unios.hr/molekularna/dokumenti.html ) must include:

  • personal data of the applicant with an indication of the address of the residence,
  • CV on motivation letter and brief description of scientific research interest
  • a copy of the dormitory or proof of nationality of the certified copy of the diploma
  • completed undergraduate or graduate university studies
  • transcript of ratings with a prominent average score to be higher than 3.5
  • recommendations of two distinguished scientists or university professors of the higher education institution where they graduated (if the average is less than 3.5)
  • a declaration of knowledge of one world language on the certificate of the institution or a statement of the applicant in writing on the obligation to pay tuition fees

Applications are submitted in person or sent by post within 30 days of the publication of the competition to the address:

Postgraduate expenses:

  1. The total tuition in accordance with the postgraduate interdisciplinary university study programme is HRK 46,600.00 (HRK 7,500.00 per semester, and the sixth semester related to the production and defence of the doctoral dissertation is HRK 9,100.00);
  2. Tuition is paid before enrollment in the semester on the giro account number HR 4325000091102012988; call the OIB GATEWAY number;
  3. After the payment has been made, the applicants attach a payment certificate, a copy of the virmana (if paid by the company/institution) or a copy of the payment slip (if paid by the gateway itself).

The list of selected applicants for admission to postgraduate studies is determined by the Council of University Postgraduate Interdisciplinary Doctoral Study of Molecular biosciences based on the scoring carried out. The method of scoring applicants is determined by the Postgraduate Council and published on the http://www.unios.hr/molekularna/ website. All applicants will be informed of the results of the competition no later than 30 days after the conclusion of the competition.

The study program and performance plan of the postgraduate interdisciplinary university study programme is published on the website of the http://www.unios.hr/molekularna/ of the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek.
