Summer School "Dubrovnik Summer School on Molecular Biosciences in Medicine"
Summer School on Molecular Biosciences in Medicine was held from September 11th to 14th in Dubrovnik. The summer school was attended by young doctors and phD students of the "Molecular Biosciences" of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, and is realized in cooperation with the University of Dubrovnik and the Ruđer Bošković Institute.
Lectures were given by nine top world scientists from Croatia, Austria, Italy, France and Japan who have published more than 2,000 scientific papers cited more than 100,000 times, and almost all of them are listed among the 1% leading in the world. The topics of the lectureinclude almost all areas of molecular biomedicine, with an emphasis on modern theoretical and analytical approaches to the latest knowledge about diseases related to aging and stress, such as heart and blood vessel diseases, inflammatory, degenerative and metabolic diseases, and especially cancer, but also COVID-19.
On Friday, September 15, the international symposium on oxidative stress was directed towards very specific and less known areas of this very popular field of interdisciplinary sciences. Including lectures on fats and their oxidation during stress and illness, and on the almost unknown possibilities of modification for the life of important molecules during oxidative stress and prevention of harmful processes using selenium, these scientific events are unique on a global scale, and were complemented by a concert by the string quartet of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra in cooperation with a young soprano of the Music Academy in Zagreb and with the support of the League Against Cancer Dubrovnik.
Congratulations on participating in the teachers and students of the interdisciplinary doctoral study of Molecular Biosciences who had the opportunity to exchange invaluable knowledge and experience in this field of science, but also to better connect and achieve, both mutual and cooperation with visiting scientists.
