Enrollment of 30 participants in the postgraduate interdisciplinary university study of Molecular Biosciences in the academic year 2022/2023

AND

  1. The postgraduate interdisciplinary university study of Molecular Biosciences is conducted by the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek in cooperation with the University of Dubrovnik and the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb.
  2. The postgraduate interdisciplinary university study of Molecular Biosciences lasts for three years or six semesters and upon its completion, 180 ECTS credits and the academic degree of Doctor of Science in the Interdisciplinary Field of Science are acquired with the indication of at least two scientific fields in which the content of the doctoral thesis belongs (in accordance with the point II of the competition).
  3. According to the potential number of mentors, a total of 30 participants are enrolled in the postgraduate interdisciplinary university study of Molecular Biosciences .

General information on postgraduate interdisciplinary university study

Interdisciplinarity is a fundamental feature of the postgraduate interdisciplinary university study of Molecular Biosciences that functionally integrates:

  • field of biotechnical sciences - field of food technology, field of agriculture
  • field of biomedicine and healthcare - field of basic medical science,
  • field of natural sciences - field of biology, field of chemistry

The study program of the postgraduate interdisciplinary university study of Molecular Biosciences contains

  • compulsory cases
  • methodological electives
  • elective subjects in different modules:
    • materials science and new technologies
    • bioinformatics
    • biology
    • biology of the sea
    • plant biology
    • biomedicine

Postgraduate interdisciplinary university study lasts three years or six semesters: compulsory and methodological elective courses are listened to in the 1st semester, elective courses in modules are listened to in the second semester, and in other semesters the student is dedicated to the preparation of the doctoral thesis.

Conditions of enrolment to study

  • The study may be enrolled by students with completed university graduate, university integrated undergraduate and graduate studies or university specialist studies as follows:
  1. in the fields of biotechnical, biomedical and natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, food technology, chemical engineering, biotechnology, human and veterinary medicine, dentistry, pharmacy of agriculture and forestry);
  2. other university graduate, university integrated undergraduate and graduate studies with the passing of distinguishing courses established by the Postgraduate Study Council.
  • The study can be enrolled by applicants who have received a master's degree in the corresponding postgraduate study programme. The number of ects credits recognized for admission in a given semester is approved by the Council of Postgraduate Studies depending on the attached qualifications (academic degree of master of science, number of published papers, participation in meetings, etc.).
  • The study programme may be enrolled by persons whose average grade in the university graduate, university integrated undergraduate and graduate studies was at least 3.5. Exceptional enrolment rights are granted to persons whose grade is below 3.5 provided that they have the recommendation of two distinguished scientists or university professors of the higher education institution from which they graduated.
  • Knowledge of a world language.

  • personal data of the applicant with an indication of the address of the residence,
  • biography
  • motivation letter and description of scientific research interest
  • a copy of the certificate of the dominance or proof of nationality
  • a certified copy of the diploma of the completed study
  • transcript of ratings with a prominent average score to be higher than 3.5
  • recommendations of two distinguished scientists or university professors of the higher education institution from which they graduated (if the average is less than 3.5) – download the form here [HR – doc]

  • confirmation of the institution or statement of the applicant in writing on the obligation to pay tuition fees – download the form here [HR – pdf]

Applications are submitted in person or sent by post within 30 days of the announcement of the competition to the following address:

Untimely and incomplete applications will not be considered.

Postgraduate expenses:

  1. The total tuition fee in accordance with the postgraduate study program is 46.600,00 kn (6.184,88€ with FTK 7.53450). Tuition fee per semester is HRK 7,500.00 (995,42€ with FTK 7,53450), and for the sixth semester related to the preparation and defence of the doctoral thesis is HRK 9,100.00 (1.207,78€ with FTK 7,53450).
  2. Tuition is paid before enrollment in the semester on the giro account number HR 4325000091102012988; call the OIB GATEWAY number;
  3. After the payment has been made, the applicants attach a payment certificate, a copy of the virmana (if paid by the company/institution) or a copy of the payment slip (if paid by the gateway itself).

The list of selected applicants for enrolment in postgraduate studies is determined by the Council of postgraduate interdisciplinary university study of Molecular Biosciences based on the conducted credits. The method of scoring the applicant is determined by the Council of the Postgraduate Interdisciplinary University Study of Molecular Biosciences and is published on the website of the http://www.unios.hr/molekularna/ . All applicants will be notified of the results of the tender no later than 30 days after the conclusion of the tender procedure.
