An educational workshop for mentors of interdisciplinary doctoral studies was held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 in the premises of the Rectorate of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek.
The workshop was opened and greeted by the gathered teachers prof. dr. sc. Sonja Vila, Vice-Rector for Science, Technologies, Projects and International Cooperation at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. Prof. dr. sc. Martina Smolić, head of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Study of Molecular Biosciences, in her introductory presentation pointed out the importance of participating in workshops to all teachers before taking over the first mentorship, but also the importance of further training of existing mentors in order to exchange experiences with each other. The workshop was moderated by prof. dr. sc. Natalija Velić, Head of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Study Nature and Environmental Protection.
On this occasion, 70 mentors of doctoral studies followed the lectures of prof. dr. sc. Dragan Primorac, full professor in the permanent selection of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek and the Faculty of Medicine Osijek, J. J. Strossmayer University of Osijek, Osijek, Croatia; Faculty of Medicine, University of Split, Split, Croatia; Department of Biotechnology, University of Rijeka, Rijeka, Croatia; Eberly College of Science of Penn State University, PA, USA, and New Haven University, New Haven, CT, USA; Prof. Dr. Sc. George Y. Wu, full professor in permanent selection of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Farmington, CT, USA; and prof. dr. sc. Ashraf Tabll, full professor in the permanent selection of the National Research Center, Cairo, Egypt.
